Students learn about HTML language. Students will also learn about the design process and file management skills. Dreamweaver and Fireworks will also be introduced to students. Many discussions on emerging technologies will also take place in this class. Students will hone their web designing and file management skills. Flash and Java will be introduced to students. Students will learn how to prototype their web sites using multiple programs. Industry Certification will take place during this class. Students will work on researching and working with new technologies in relation to the world wide web.  In this course a sense of where the web design industry is and where it is heading is discovered and students begin to take on R&D projects.

Students will work on publishing sites live to the world wide web. During this year students may work with our business partners or local businesses in developing web sites or web based products. Job shadowing and internships will also be made available. Students will also help in maintaining school web sites.

These courses are designed so that students can successfully pass industry certification tests and become highly employable upon graduating Lakeland High School. Upon completing a technology track from the IT Academy it will be possible to gain employment as a Information Technology Assistant, HTML Coder, Web Graphic Designer, Web Producer. These courses offer a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in Web Design Services (Web Design) positions. The content includes Operating System commands and Web document development, design, promotion and scripting.

Students will focus on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the Web Design Services (Web Design) industry: planning; management; finance; technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, and environmental issues.

Students learn about HTML language. Students will also learn about the design process and file management skills. Dreamweaver and Fireworks will also be introduced to students. Many discussions on emerging technologies will also take place in this class. Students learn about information architecture, project life cycle, and Java basics. Students will hone their programming skills. Java will be explored more extensively and .net will be introduced to students. Industry Certification will take place during this class. Students will work on producing live programs and look to develop projects on larger scales. During this year students may work with our business partners or local businesses in developing real world projects. Job shadowing and internships will also be made available. Students will also help in developing technologies fore the school web sites.

These courses introduces computer programming concepts for business applications. The content includes basic information processing and computer functions; operating systems, environments, and hardware platforms; programming techniques and concepts; and basic financial business concepts, programming techniques and concepts for sequential, indexed sequential, random, and direct files; and the integrated nature of corporate systems.

The computer programming track will later continue the study of computer programming concepts for business applications. The content includes interfaces for systems integration, software quality assurance, and advanced programming techniques and concepts.
